Ashis Burman wrote for Quest, the journal of ideas sponsored by the Indian Committee for Cultural Freedom, appearing in one issue of the archive’s run (Vol. II No. 1 (August-September 1956)).

Quest’s contributor note in Vol. II No. 1 (August-September 1956), p. 69 reads:

Ashis Burman (Calcutta) edits the Bengali literary quarterly, Sahitya Patra. He has written literary and film criticism and is at present engaged on his first novel. He was Assistant Director of the now-famous film, Pather Panchali.
